From Lab to Market: Spin-off Academy Guides Scientists on their Path to Entrepreneurship
Participants of the Spin-off Academy, which will take place in Prague from 23 to 27 March, will follow the journey from a scientific idea to a ready-to-launch spin-off project. Experienced mentors will guide them through the process, including Jiří Navrátil from CATRIN and Filip Fingl from the Center for Advanced Technologies and Engineering.
The week-long intensive bootcamp is designed for research teams as well as individuals considering how to move their technology towards the market. Participants will learn, among other things, how to turn a technology into a product, how to work with the market, conduct validation, and overcome the main challenges associated with founding and launching a deep-tech startup.
The mentors’ goal is to help researchers and research teams develop their own projects. “A key part of the academy is working on the development of participants’ own projects in cooperation with mentors. For this reason, we prefer applicants who already have a specific technology or project, although it is not a requirement. If someone genuinely wants to learn how to practically build a spin-off but does not yet have a specific technology, we will find a way to work with that as well. This year’s edition is primarily focused on domain-related areas,” explain the organizers.
